This launch was the fourth of the five MHS instruments to be placed into orbit.
Astrium News - Microwave Humidty Sounder (MHS) - NOAA-N' (N Prime) Launch NOAA-N Prime (now re-designated NOAA-19), the next in the series of Polar orbiting satellites, was launched on 6th February 2009 as part of a collaboration with EUMETSAT. The launch took place from the Vandenburg Air Force Base in California aboard a Delta-II launch vehicle. Previous launch attempts on 4th and 5th February were scrubbed due to technical problems. This launch saw the third MHS instrument to be placed into orbit. The first two are currently operating on the NOAA-18 and MetOp-A spacecraft.
Astrium News - Microwave Humidty Sounder (MHS) - MetOp-A Launch MetOp-A, the first of three satellites of the EUMETSAT Polar System (EPS), was launched at 16:28 UTC on 19th October 2006, from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan by the latest Soyuz ST Fregat launcher operated by Starsem. This launch saw the second MHS instrument to be placed into orbit. MetOp-A is the first in a series of three EUMETSAT Polar System (EPS) satellites developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) for EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites.
Astrium News - Microwave Humidty Sounder (MHS) - NOOA-N Launch On 20th May 2005, the first of five Microwave Humidity Sounder (MHS) instruments was launched on board the US polar orbiting satellite NOAA-N (now re-designated NOAA-18) from Vandenburg Air Force base in Califonia. A further MHS is due to be launched on board a NOAA spacecraft in 2006, with the remaining three MHS instruments to be launched on board European METOP spacecraft with expected launches in 2009/12/15. |
